NLP Master Practitioner found guilty of misconduct – AGAIN!

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

This appeared in yesterdays Dominion Post.  NLP Master Practitioner Damian Peters, formally from Wellington, has been found guilty of serious professional misconduct.

Sad to see that this is not the first time.  I recall seeing a similar article back in early 2007 which involved the exploitation of a female sexual abuse victim.  The recent case is a little too similar for my liking.  Any form of alternative healing where this happens can quickly be brought into disrepute.

In August of 2007, months after the decision by the Health and Disabilities Commissioner was made public  Damian Peters could be found giving a presentation to the Auckland NLP group (for those that don’t know the NZANLP has regional groups throughout the country).  To me this indicates the NZANLP has failed to act in accordance with its code of ethics.

Damian Peters has brought shame upon the practice of NLP.  It is UNACCEPTABLE that he continues unimpeded.

Within NZ, he can continue without practice insurance, association membership, or even it seems appropriate standards of care.  Alternative natural healing is not legislated or controled here.  There is however one group of people that can stop him practicing.  All it would take is the majority of the NLP community in NZ making a concious decision to stop refering clients.  Whether or not NLPers have the integrity to do so remains to be seen.

Live by your code.

Blessings,

Keri Eagan
