Exactly! And if you eat it the fresh, raw (oh yum…make it easier by combining with other stuff) you get the benefit of “allicin” which has been notied for its antimicrobial activity. Cooking or exposure to air destroys it, so that is where the raw suggestion comes from.

Hi Keri,
how marvelous to have more choices for the cold and flu season and also to have alternative healing methods for addressing that which don’t gunk up our systems with meds we really don’t need.
I’d love to see you and GetHealthyHQ do an exchange on How the Overuse of Antibiotics is increasing Candida…. (their side) and then you write about what are some alternatives to Antibiotics (use the link within your posts and ping backs).
Just an idea I would love to see. We will all be dealing with this in various forms in the months ahead. Even if it is just to avoid that level of contact with people in pubic, an office environment, church and other community settings.

Keri,
Without jumping ahead to read your next post, one relevant remedy I can think of is to put chopped up fresh garlic and ginger into (unprocessed)honey and let it exposed to the sun for a few days, then use luke warm water to dilute that special honey to drink.
Good for overall immune system anyway.

Missing work can be expensive in it self so staying healthy is all the more reason to not to have to go through medications/doctors/down time.

Sounds intriguing and useful. Garlic is amazing.

Garlic is amazing and it keeps strangers at bay so not only do you reap the benefits of the anti-fungal, anti-microbal garlic, you reek the benefits of less actual contact with the germs . . . at least if you use as much garlic in your food as I do.

I avoid public places where people sniffle . . . may not be getting my immune boost, but the idea of having someone else’s snot on me in some small way just hits gross mark.
