Internet Explorer – The Search Engine With A Mental Illness

For reasons I won’t go into right now, I’m on a MAC running windows with Internet Explorer browser.  I notice it is slower than the other browser and has annoying reminders.  Also I have the need to copy and paste information from Vox, and in IE it will only copy the part still visible on my screen (where did the rest of the selection go?).

My diagnosis?  Clearly an identity disorder, and mild boarderline personality which I suspect originated from its Microsoft upbringing.

To think that 60+% of the world willingly tortures themselves with this thing.  But, like many of lifes issues, it’s really just a habit that can be broken in a few easy steps:

1) Search Google for “Mozilla.org”

2) download firefox, and never look back.

Alternatively an equally good browser is Google Chrome which you may get prompted to upgrade to if you use gmail.

Your brain is very much like a search engine – able to be altered in a couple of clicks using NLP.  It isn’t as hard and doesn’t need to be expensive.  NLP is the most logical treatment available today.

And some of us think you Mac people are pretentious and condescending… :-)

I personally use IE and have for years and never had any problems with it… of course I used to work for IBM and so I have likely been brainwashed by the evil Microsoft people.

But, in any case, since the vast majority of your customers likely use IE it is best that you make sure that your web presence caters to that market.

  2. I’m a huge Firefox fan. In my opinion, and it’s a humble one, Firefox is the best browser out there. I have all the major browsers on my computer…Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera, because I want to see how my websites render in each of the major browsers.

As a dual user, let me attest that firefox on mac seems so desirable until you depend upon it. I am not fond of my mac and am oogling various PCs. Been mac-ing it for 2 years now . . . mixed bag. IE on Windows system is the least resistance approach. Better to use your energy for building yourself. :)

P.S. I bet the problem is bootcamp related. Usually is….

  6. I myself use Firefox, seems to be less problems. Your analogy of a search engine and NLP is a good one. Thanks for your insight. I can’t wait to hear more about NLP.

I know nothing about Macs and there are days I wish I knew nothing about IE. Technology is great when it works. It’s those days when it won’t that make me scratch my head.

Hi Terry, Better product, but don’t see much point if we HAVE to use windows for our business. Also there is no right mouse button so you have to place two fingers on the mouse pad and click and the same time. Very uncoordinated.

  11. I’ve never used a Mac. I hear “they can’t get viruses.” That interests me!!!! We have certainly had our share even with our firewall and anti-spyware, and anti-virus software!

as a marketer we need to know what our customer sees
as a user, we want to go fast, have fun

those two things never line up
the customer uses IE and a PC
firefox is really making headway and is a superior product
obviously the mac is also a superior product
but our customer sees the world through the eyes of IE and a PC
and my experience is that i need to see what my friends see
to understand them, their world view, those things that matter
    to them.
and then see if they want to look at something on a high definition
plasma tv….and now as my daughter reminds me….with blu ray discs…

Keri, I like you. You speak my language.

I just started using a mac about a year ago. There are aspects of it that are superior to a PC, and some that are not. I’m a Unix guy, so using a mac is nice b/c the mac OS is Unix underneath the covers. Using a mac in the business world is somewhat inconvenient b/c nearly every company I work with uses Windows and MS Office for business communications.
